A Call To Prayer

In the past week I have noticed several warnings coming to our nation, and they both have been confirming just a bad feeling I’ve been feeling as well. I had no personal clarity, but when I read these, they made sense. There have been several words posted from several reliable people which seem to be warning us of a few key points, the main ones being a financial crisis/coming depression to this nation and terrorist attacks. The fact that we have allowed our nation’s foundation on the Lord to crumble seems to be the cause. We’ve allowed holes in our nations spiritual walls that is causing these things to happen.

Before I continue I just want to say- I am not a person who is into warnings or doomsday prophecy whatsoever. But the key to these is that no one is prophesying that they have to happen. They are instead saying the Lord is warning us that we need to pray, to intercede for this nation so they DON’T happen. That we CAN prevent these things. On one of these postings, the person says the key the Lord is giving to this nation is “Seek first the Kingdom of God.” That if those of us who consider ourselves believers make God’s Kingdom our priority, it will solve the problem.

The most recent warning I read was about the terrorist attacks. The person petitioned all of us to pray. Pray for wisdom for our leadership, for strategies, and for a third great awakening in the US. So in praying, I asked the Lord what He had to say about it all, and He reminded me of a verse I recently read that mentioned, “there will be no breaching of walls…” And that’s what I felt lead to pray for. No breaching of our nation’s walls. So I looked up the verse and it is in Psalm 144. As I was reading through the whole Psalm, I thought it was a very strategic prayer for this particular warning.

“Part your heavens, O Lord, and come down; touch the mountains so they smoke. Send forth lightning and scatter the enemies; shoot your arrows and rout them. Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.

The next part was a strategic call to worship during these times, and something that was a big part of breakthrough for our nation: “I will sing a new song to you O God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you, to the One who gives victory to kings (and we are ALL kings and priests in the Lord), who delivers his servant David (or those of us who love the Lord) from the deadly sword.”

Next the verse repeats the previously highlighted text, “Deliver me and rescue me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful (our prayer against terrorist attacks).

It goes on to say what good things will happen should the Lord answer this prayer:

-sons and daughters will do well

-barns filled with every kind of provision

-livestock increasing (translate all this into whatever modern day provision the Lord could provide- not to discount livestock)

It all ends with, “There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets.Blessed are the people of whom this is true; blessed are the people whose God is the Lord.”

Basically, when I look at all the warnings being spoken, they all have the same answer: intercede, worship Jesus (I actually think this is the MAIN thing to do), put His Kingdom first! In other words: Do our job! Quit messing around! And I thought these verses were very strategic and showed us that basically, the Lord can save us from terrorist attacks and the Lord can deliver from a financial crisis. He can cause it to be avoided all together if we just listen and obey and partner with the Holy Spirit. We shouldn’t live in helpless fear. Instead we need to seek Him and trust Him and just give ourselves over to Him.

I think the fact God is sending all these warnings is a clear picture of His heart: He doesn’t want it to happen. He wants to deliver this nation. He LOVES this nation and it’s people. He loves US! So I don’t intend this message to be a downer, but instead just a call to press in to His heart and hear what He has to say. I want to agree with what He says (No breaches in the walls; deliver us from the hands of foreigners) and most importantly, worship and adore Him more than ever before. Because after all, He is good!

Clearing The Air

So I had a few questions brought up to me about this post, and wanted to clear the air a little on here in case anyone else had similar questions. I’ll start off by saying what I’m NOT saying in this post. I’m not saying God loves the U.S. any more than any other country. He loves them all and everyone in them! Being a U.S. citizen does not make us God’s favorite. Being human makes us all God’s favorite! I’m also not saying any of us should hate foreigners or that God does, either. I LOVE people from other nations and so does the Lord. He talks about loving the nations on a regular basis and I am very passionate about this.

What those verses about foreigners meant and what the Lord showed me through them was that He was wanting to protect us from those who would intend to harm the people in the U.S. Not because we’re special or better than those people, but because He loves us and would want to protect EVERYONE from the kind of harm caused by terrorism, and could just as easily give someone in another country those verses to pray should the U.S. every intend to harm them. He loves His people (all of us!) and wants the best for us. He loves the would be terrorists as well, not because of what they do but because they are human.

Hope that helps!

I Am His

“I am full of faults, flaws, and weaknesses, and have committed all sorts of crimes against his King. Touched with a sensible regret I confess all my wickedness to Him. I ask His forgiveness. I abandon myself in His hands that He may do what he pleases with me.

My King is full of mercy and goodness. Far from chastising me, He embraces me with love. he makes me eat at His table. He serves me with His own hands and gives me the key to His treasures. He converses and delights Himself with me incessantly, in a thousand and a thousand ways. And He treats me in all respects as His favorite. ” -Brother Lawrence, The Practice of the Presence of God

I read this and fell in total awe of God. He is SO GOOD.

Why is God able to treat us this way? Because it’s true- we are, without Him, a horrible disgusting people. I know I am. But the GOOD NEWS of the real gospel is that Jesus paid the price for this. We are destined to disgustingness. But instead of us paying for that disgustingness, having to live the consequences of it, Jesus did. He bought us with His blood. And He didn’t stop there. When we receive Jesus – let Him fully in- He gives us an entirely new nature. We’re not disgusting people anymore. We’re full of the goodness of God. So when He looks at us, He doesn’t see all the issues that we see. He sees us as beautiful. He WASHED us with His blood and we’re NEW. He knows we have stuff to work through, but He sees the big picture, the end result. I am His. I want to see what He sees.
